BYRON SHIRE COUNCIL TAKE STEPS TO REDUCE FISH KILLS

Byron Shire Council is taking steps to reduce the number of fish kills in local creeks.
Workers have started beach-scraping at the mouth of Belongil Creek, to allow water to flow from the lagoon to the sea.
It says heavy rain was to blame for a number of fish kills last month – with water quality very poor.
