The banks of the Wilson River are about to get a makeover.
School students will be tasked to control weeds and plant trees as part of a community Landcare project.
Now with an additional $20,000 in Australian Government funding, Envite Environment will also be able to hold school based workshops and training days.
“With all of the erosion and everything that’s been happening in the environment it’s very important to be replanting all these plants.”
“A lot of kids now don’t necessarily have direct exposure to the environment, getting them to plant things, watching them grow, looking and observing, that’s a great initiative as well.”
The project will be taking all the necessary precautions, avoiding areas that might cause sedimentation in the river.
