FOUR PEOPLE CHARGED OVER TWEED BREAK AND ENTER
Three men and a teenage girl have been charged after allegedly breaking-in and stealing a car on the North Coast yesterday.
Police were called to Tweed Heads around 8 o’clock this morning, after reports a vehicle was on fire.
The four offenders ran away from police officers, when they arrived at Soorley Street, which instigated a foot pursuit towards the Tweed River.
A 17-year-old girl and 27-year-old man were arrested at the river’s shoreline.
With the help of Marine Area Command, Queensland Pol Air and the Dog Unit, two men, aged 28 and 19, were arrested soon after on Ukerebagh Island.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen during a break and enter last night at Banora Point.
All four people were taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where they were charged.
Two of the men will face Lismore Local Court today, with another to face Tweed Heads Local Court in June.
The 17-year-old girl was charged with aggravated break and enter, carried in conveyance, being in possession of a knife and four counts of possessing a prohibited drug.
She’ll face children’s court today.
