Lismore City Council today announced it will contribute $445,000 to Lismore and Nimbin’s Showgrounds.
It’s part of the $1.3 million grant from the federal government’s Bushfire Recovery program.
“We’re doing pavillion upgrades, we’re doing kitchen upgrades, there’s obviously food needing to be produced in these times. And there are things like detachable fencing.”
The showgrounds played a vital role in housing displaced families during the bushires that devastated large parts of the Far North Coast.
“We saw people and animals streaming into this facility as we did at the Nimbin Showground as well.”
