FIRE-DAMAGED BUILDING IN NEWCASTLE PARK TO BE DEMOLISHED

The fate of a fire-damaged building at National Park in Newcastle has been sealed, with council in the process of removing contaminants, and demolishing it.
The neglected corner of the park is set to be transformed.
“The immediate plan for the site is to return it to public space, so it’ll be a nice grassed area that people can access at any time. Longer term, there’s a plan of management city of Newcastle is under taking for the broader National Park area.” – Nick Kaiser, Newcastle Council.
New grass will be laid in the coming weeks, with community consultation for the broader plan taking place over the next 12 months.
