POLICE OUT IN FORCE ACROSS FAR NORTH COAST AS QUEENSLAND REOPENS
Men and women in blue will be out in force across the Far North Coast from tomorrow as Queensland prepares to welcome back its neighbours.
Local motorists are being urged to delay travel into the Sunshine State with heavy congestion expected over the next 72 hours.
Police bosses are calling for calm behind the wheel.
“We don’t want any road rage incidents, we don’t want any people getting uptight – get to your destination safely,” Superintendent Dave Roptell, Tweed-Byron Police District Commander, said.
The Miles Street vehicle checkpoint will be open to local border residents only.
Other police controlled vehicle checkpoints include;
- Gold Coast Highway and Coolangatta Road
- Griffith Street and Stuart Street
- M1 northbound at Stewarts Road
- Nerang Murwillumbah Road, Natural Bridge between 7am to 7pm daily
