FREE SANITARY ITEM VENDING MACHINE OPENS IN LISMORE
Disadvantaged women in Lismore will have access to free sanitary products, with a vending machine unveiled at the local library.
The machine is located in the disabled toilet on the second floor, and can dispense a pack of items every 10 minutes.
“It’s so fantastic, we’ve been wanting this for so long and it’s going to help so many women and girls in this area,” Share the Dignity volunteer, Lee Millward, said.
“The library’s open 7 days a week so people, ladies, young girls, can just come in, help themselves and leave without being embarrassed or anything like that but it’s available for them here,” Lismore Area Librarian, Lucy Kinsley, said.
It’s the first of its kind for the Northern Rivers – with hopes another will soon be available in Goonellabah.
Share the Dignity collection boxes will remain outside local Woolworths stores until tomorrow afternoon.
