A boat trip on the far north coast has turned to tragedy, after a yacht capsized while crossing the Ballina bar, throwing a 90-year-old man overboard.
The victim – three-time Sydney to Hobart winner Peter Warner – died despite the brave efforts of a teenage family friend, who managed to get him to shore.
