RICHMOND VALLEY COUNCIL TO DELIVER BUDGET SURPLUS

Richmond Valley Council has announced it will deliver a budget surplus of $375,000 in the next financial year.
But to keep out of the red, the council will have to tighten its belt, starting with cutting staff wages and salaries by two per cent.
It has also opted to abandon its Bridge and Pre Stressing operation which has been a drain on funds for the past few years.
Residents can expect a general rate increase of 3.6 per cent.
