RICHMOND VALLEY WATER WAR ENDS

The long-standing feud over water pricing between Richmond Valley Council and the Casino Meatworks is finally over.

Last night, council signed off on its deal with the meat company to reduced its water fee to 81 cents a kilo-litre.

The price is expected to change annually with the consumer price index.

The dispute started more than a year ago, when Council announced plans to increase the meatwork’s water rates from 69 cents a kilo-litre to $1.69.
