BYRON’S $16 MILLION PLAN TO BUILD NEW BIOENERGY PLANT

Byron Bay could soon be home to a new bioenergy plant, with council making its plans public.
The $16.57 million proposal would be built near the Byron Bay Sewage Treatment Plant in Wallum Place.
It aims to allow the shire to produce biogas for electricity generation, instead of sending its green waste to Queensland.
The development application will go before the Northern Regional Planning Panel.
