MAN CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER ALLEGED ROAD RAGE INCIDENT
A man will face court today charged with murder, following the death of a man after an alleged assault on the state’s north coast.
Just before 7pm last night, emergency services were called to Albert Harrower Crescent at South West Rocks.
A 61-year-old man was found near the roadway with serious head injuries.
He was treated at the scene by police and paramedics, before being airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a critical condition, where he later died.
The two men, who are not known to each other, had reportedly been involved in a road rage incident prior to the altercation.
A crime scene was set up, and officers started an investigation.
A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Kempsey Police Station, where he was charged with murder.
He was refused bail to appear before Port Macquarie Local Court today.
Investigations are ongoing.
