REGION ON ALERT AFTER FERAL DEER SPOTTED IN BYRON SHIRE
The Byron Shire is now on feral deer alert, after one was spotted in the region.
This young male Rusa deer was captured on camera by a property owner in the northern part of the shire.
The sighting was reported to the Feral Deer Alert website.
Residents in the Tweed, Kyogle and Lismore council areas should also be cautious.
Feral deer populations have the ability to cause collisions on roads, can impact farmers and damage native ecosystems.
