From 88 finalists it was a series of oil landscape paintings by Bulli artist, John Bokor that impressed the most – taking out this year’s $10 000 Wilson Visual art prize.
More than 250 artists from across Australia entered the Lismore-based award – this year’s standard of entries, blowing away organisers.
“We are very happy with the quality of works and all works are for sale so I’m sure there’ll be something here that people will like.”
Local talent didn’t go unnoticed, Byron Bay’s John Cottrell taking out the $1000 encouragement award with his acrylic creation, “Table Top.”
The people’s choice award will be announced at one o’clock tomorrow afternoon.
