CALLS GROW STRONGER TO DITCH STRIP SEARCHES AT MUSIC FESTIVALS

Fresh from giving evidence at the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission in Sydney, Nicqui Yazdi has told NBN News she believes strip searches have no place at music festivals.

The Byron Bay youth worker using the inquiry to push for change when it comes to the management of drugs at events.

“In the case of Splendour last year, 92% of those strip searches showed nothing, there were no drugs so you know that’s a massive waste of money, where that money could be better spent put into harm reduction and pill testing services at festivals.”

The law enforcement watchdog isn’t expected to hand down its recommendations for months.
