ONE NEW COVID-19 CASE IN NEW SOUTH WALES

One new COVID-19 case has been recorded in New South Wales, linked to a hen’s party that visited Byron Bay over the weekend.

Thankfully, the infected person took the advice of NSW Health and has been in isolation.

In the past 24 hours 17,000 tests have been conducted in the state.

In response to the new case, the Premier has announced restrictions for the Northern Rivers over this Easter long weekend.

They will be enforced across four council areas – Byron, Ballina, Tweed and Lismore.

If you live in these areas only 30 people will be allowed in your home and you will need to keep a list of the people who attend.

All venues will revert back to the four square metre rule, with all patrons to be seated.

Masks must be worn will shopping and while using transport – including taxis and ubers.

A number of new casual contact venues have been added to the list on NSW Health’s website:

In Byron Bay on Saturday 27th of March
– Boards in the Bay between 12:40pm-12:45pm
– Byron Bay Central Pharmacy between 1:05pm-1:10pm
– Main Street Burger Bar between 1:25pm-1:30pm
– Surf, Dive & Ski between 1:25pm-1:30pm
– Ghanda between 12:00pm and 12:30pm

If you’ve been to these locations at the listed times, get tested immediately and isolate until a negative result is received. Continue to monitor for symptoms and if they appear, get tested again.

Ballina’s Henry Rous Tavern is closed today after it was revealed a COVID-positive case visited the venue on Sunday. NSW Health is yet to update its website to include the location.
