Jetstar Airways has announced it will resume direct seasonal services between Cairns and Newcastle from 24 June until 28 October 2023, reintroducing great low fares to the popular route.
In partnership with Newcastle Airport and Cairns Airport, this seasonal route originally took off in June 2021 and will relaunch following strong demand.

Newcastle Airport CEO Dr Peter Cock welcomed the announcement, saying it’s more good news for our region.
Jetstar’s Chief Customer Officer, Alan McIntyre, said Jetstar will be the only airline offering direct flights between the two destinations.
Cairns is the first of many direct routes Newcastle Airport hopes to announce in 2023, with more exciting destinations on the horizon over the coming 12 months.
