TASKFORCE CRACKS DOWN ON ANIMAL WELFARE

The state government is moving to tighten legislation governing pet ownership in a bid to reduce the number of animals euthanased each year.
38 key recommendations were handed down by a companion animal taskforce earlier this week – but local rescue groups say the report isn’t specific enough.
It`s at least a beginning, and an acknowledgement of the fact that things MUST change.
However, it is nowhere near enough to change indiscriminate animal breeding and the
horrendous death toll of healthy unwanted animals in this country,
Also, groups like Animal Rights and Rescue Group in Lismore must be funded to
continue the work they do.
Right On TASKFORCE! We obviously need you since there is so much, too much, animal abuse of horrendous measures! Thank you for being there watching out for “Animal(s) Welfare”!
Animal Welfare has long been not nearly high enough a priority in this country but this is certainly a step in the right direction.
Attitudes need to change!
Animals have a right to a good quality of life.
Stamping out Backyard Breeding, Dogfighting and Enforcing the Spaying and Neutering of Pets would all be extremely positive steps forward in the Domestic Area.
Why are we doing everything but the right thing – desex and microchip of all companion animals at point of sale. You do not need a taskforce to tell you this its basic commonsense.
