FLYING FOX NUMBERS DOWN IN TAMWORTH

Tamworth’s ever-growing flying fox problem, looks to be easing.
New estimates from the state’s Office of Environment and Heritage suggest the city’s population has almost halved.
Just a few months ago there were around 150-thousand flying foxes roosting in trees along King George Avenue and the banks of the Peel River…
Now that number has reduced to around 80-thousand.
Council says it will continue to apply for funding to create more buffer areas long the river.
