Man jailed for execution murder of Stockton Grandmother

A hitman has been jailed for 32 years for the shooting murder of Newcastle grandmother Stacey Klimovitch.

Jason Hawkins gunned down the 61-year-old at close range as she opened the door to her Stockton home on the night of June 9, 2021.

48-year-old Hawkins was hired to carry out the shooting by Stuart Campbell, the former partner of Ms Klimovitch’s daughter. He has since passed away.

Today a Supreme Court Judge described the murder as “incomprehensible”, “callous” and “brutal”.

Hawkins will spend at least 24 years behind bars.
