ATTEMPTED MURDER CHARGES FOR NIMBIN MAN
A woman has suffered multiple stab wounds, and a man has been charged with attempted murder in a violent incident in the Northern Rivers.
Police say around 10pm on Friday, a 51-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman became involved in an argument at a home on Gungas Road in Nimbin.
The woman was allegedly assaulted with a hammer and stabbed multiple times, before calling Triple Zero after the man fled.
She was treated at the scene for multiple stab wounds to her legs, arms and torso, before being taken to Lismore Hospital where she underwent surgery.
Police subsequently arrested and charged the man with cause wounding with intent to murder.
The man was refused bail and will appear in court later today.
