MAN STABLE FOLLOWING BRUNSWICK HEADS SHOOTING

Police are on the hunt for a man responsible for an early morning shooting at Brunswick Heads on the state’s far north coast.

A 37-year-old man has told police he was asleep in his car in the Brunswick Heads Nature Reserve when he was woken by someone tapping on his window at around 6 o’clock on Friday morning.

He got out of the car and spoke with a man wielding a handgun.

It’s alleged the man made several threats, before firing two shots towards the car owner.

One of the shots struck the man in the forehead.

He managed to run to a nearby police station, before being taken to Byron Bay Hospital suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators wish to speak with the alleged gunman who was described as wearing dark clothes and having an Australian accent.
