Police will be stationed at three access points along the New South Wales and Queensland border from midnight tonight, as the state prepares for a coronavirus shutdown.
Those with essential needs will be able to move between the states via the M1, the Gold Coast Highway and from Griffith Street.
“I ask people to be patient, we’re getting the permits system done as quickly as possible, the state disaster coordinator is throwing everything at this.”
Authorities will carry out RBT style checks to ensure those passing through have a valid reason.
Other roads will be closed with roadblocks.
