DRUGS AND GUN FOUND IN VEHICLE OF A DISQUALIFIED DRIVER IN GRAFTON
A man has been charged with driving, drug and firearm offences following a police chase at Grafton early this morning.
At around 1am officers were patrolling the South Grafton area when they detected a Holden Calais allegedly speeding on the Big River Way.
When the vehicle failed to stop for police, a pursuit began and continued for more than 40km throughout several rural roads.
The vehicle eventually left the road and ended in a drain off the Big River Way at Clarenza.
Police approached the 37-year-old driver who failed to comply with directions.
A taser was used to help bring him under arrest.
They proceeded to search his vehicle and allegedly seized several Buprenorphine patches and a revolver.
Police say the man had previously been disqualified from driving until 2047.
He was taken to Grafton Base Hospital for mandatory testing before being taken to Grafton Police Station and charged with a string of offences.
He was refused bail to appear in court today.
