DISQUALIFIED DRIVER CHARGED WITH HIGH-RANGE DRINK DRIVING

A North Coast man will face court today, after allegedly blowing more than seven times the legal blood alcohol limit.

A white Holden Commodore was travelling through the car park of a shopping centre on Leisure Drive at Banora Point, when it collided with a Toyota hatchback around 3.30pm yesterday.

Thankfully, no one was injured in the crash.

Police arrived soon after, and spoke with a 45-year-old man who was driving the Holden.

He gave a roadside breath test and returned a positive result.

The man was arrested and taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, where officers say he returned a reading of 0.359.

The man was disqualified from driving until 2024 due to high range PCA offences.

It’s also alleged the man was in possession of an illegally obtained Queensland driver’s licence.

He was charged with a number of offences, and will face Tweed Heads Local court today.
