CONCERNS GROWING OVER SEWAGE SURVEILLANCE DETECTING VIRUS FRAGMENTS

It’s been 18 months since Yamba recorded a case of COVID-19.

Now there’s concerns that streak has been broken with ongoing sewage surveillance detecting fragments of the virus.

This is the second detection of COVID-19 in Northern New South Wales, fragments were also found in the Lennox Head sewage treatment plant earlier this week.

“Our surveillance, our sewage surveillance is telling us there are concerns in bigger parts of the region, we’ve got an issue on the Mid North Coast,” Deputy Premier John Barilaro said.

New drive through testing clinics have been opened at the Epiq Sporting Field in Lennox and the Raymond Laurie Sports Centre in Yamba.
