Gwydir Shire Council’s extraordinary meeting has resulted in the shock resignation of one of the councillors.
The meeting was called to vote on a no-confidence motion in Mayor Bob Tremain.
But councillor Clem Gordon, one of five councillors expected to move the motion, resigned today due to his responsibilities as a doctor.
In his absence, Mayor Tremain used his casting vote to defeat the motion five votes to four.
