Ballina Council will continue to push forward with plans to redevelop the Lennox Head Surf Club, despite voting against using the funds raised from the potential sale of beachfront land at Lennox Head.
A notice of motion to allocate $1.3 million to the structure was put forward at this week’s council meeting, but it was defeated by one vote.
“I’m not too concerned, I would have preferred the other way but I’m not too concerned because it was effectively recognised as being one of the top priorities, so it will move ahead at the same pace.”
The controversial sale of the Ross Street Land was subject to community protest earlier this month.
