SINGLETON RSL AGAINST CENOTAPH PROPOSAL

The Singleton RSL sub-branch will lodge a formal submission, against a proposal to relocate the cenotaph within bat-plagued Burdekin Park.

A meeting was held today, with members unanimous in their view that it should remain in its current position – fearing the sacred monument could be damaged.

Relocating the cenotaph is just one option being considered by Singleton Council in its draft plan of management for the park, in a bid to separate the community and flying foxes.

The draft plan goes on public display on Wednesday.
