Today the flags were flying at half mast and the mood was sombre at the Lismore Workers Heights Bowling Club.
Yesterday committee members and staff were given the bad news that the club will close following trading next Sunday.
The board made the decision to shut up shop following six consecutive years of financial loss totalling close to $900 000.
“We were all gutted. It is a happy club and it is one of the bigger bowling clubs in Lismore, How it got to this situation, I’m not quite sure.”
