Ballina Council is moving forward with plans to redevelop the Wigmore Arcade and make it more attractive to shoppers.
The plan is to turn the rundown complex into a cafe and food emporium to attract more visitors to the CBD.
The arcade is one of Ballina council’s largest commercial sites and currently has 22 shops.
“It really would improve the amenity of all the shop owners at the moment they are on month to month tenancies and we want to make sure they get a long term lease on the building.”
Council is hoping to have a development application ready to go within six months.
