BONALBO OVERNIGHT EMERGENCY SERVICE TO SHUT DOWN

The Northern New South Wales health district is defending its decision to shut down Bonalbo Hospital’s late night emergency service, until it hires a medical officer.
The overnight nursing shift will be discontinued at the end of next week due to both a lack of demand, and difficulties in recruiting a doctor to the area.
Bonalbo has been without that service since the retirement of GP, Trever Tierney, at the end of last year.
